celebrating international women’s day with LittleOak

Today in the spirit of International Women’s Day we take time to acknowledge, admire and shine the light on our very own Founder and Director of LittleOak, Elke Pascoe.

Elke’s time is spent passionately working behind the scenes building the LittleOak business and ensuring everything runs smoothly day to day. Elke’s dedication to LittleOak is admirable to say the least.

As a Mum-of-two, Elke first became interested in the health benefits of goat’s milk after her son developed skin irritations from conventional dairy-based products.

After growing up in South Australia and then Perth, Elke took on the world and worked all over the globe in a successful 20-year career in healthcare. After a few life-changing events she decided it was time to fulfill her dream to help children have the best start in life and more specifically ensure no child is left hungry or malnourished.

Returning to Australia, Elke spent more than three years traveling and collaborating with industry experts including pediatricians, paediatric dietitians, manufacturers and even goat farmers in her quest to develop the best and most natural range of formulas for babies and toddlers. And it was with that, LittleOak was born.

All parents want to give their children the best start in life, she said, just as I did with my two babies.

“After pulling the back the curtain on the formula industry and getting a better understanding of the ingredients that were being used in traditional formulas, I felt I had a responsibility to do better – much better.”

“And it is for this reason that I started LittleOak with one simple premise: to create the most natural products we can to nourish all children to grow, thrive, and flourish,” she said.

It is Elke’s unwavering passion for children plus the love for her own two, that motivates her to achieve LittleOak’s vision each and every day. You can see the blood, sweat, and tears that Elke has spared to produce the world’s best formula and her dedication it is nothing short of impressive.

“As a working mum, and a single mum, time is already at a premium, but when you are so passionate about something and working to build a dream, it makes all pressure and sleepless nights worth it,” she said.

“Like many women, we are all trying our best to balance everything in our life. Now more than ever, there is endless pressure on women to do it all – and we can. While there is no way we should slow down, we should remember to regularly pause and acknowledge the amazing achievements that women all around the world are making every single day,” she said.

So, what is Elke’s advice to all aspiring women out there?

“Stay focussed on why you are doing what you’re doing. For me, it’s my two children Olive and Freddie. When you start something, you inevitably get some questions and naysayers. But don’t let that throw you. Educate yourself, persist, and accept nothing other than dogged determination, to move forward each day. Plus, surround yourself with supportive and inspiring people as well as those that make you laugh – laughter is the best antidote for stressful days.”

The words of a Mother with big dreams, big goals, and endless passion. Watch out world, she’s arrived and she’s not stopping anytime soon.

So, today, as we celebrate International Women’s Day, take a moment to reflect on everything you are balancing – acknowledge your dreams, your children, and the amazing things you do each day to build a beautiful world for the ones you love.

Take time for yourself, Mumma. Small moments of quiet can sometimes be the most valuable. Re-ground yourself, re-group and get back out there to achieve all you have ever dreamed of. You deserve it all.

And in the immortal words of John Lubbock, “Rest is not idleness and to lie sometimes on the grass, under the trees, on a summer day, listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky is by no means a waste of time.”

Happy International Women’s Day.

With Love,
LittleOak
